Buyer & Receiving Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Buyer & Receiving Coordinator is a hybrid role responsible for procuring raw materials, goods, and services in support of production needs while also managing the physical flow of materials into the facility. This includes handling some incoming shipments, coordinating with some outside processing activities, and maintaining accurate inventory and ERP data. The role ensures compliance with quality, schedule, and regulatory requirements, supporting operational efficiency and supplier performance.Key Responsibilities Areas:
Purchasing:
- Procure materials, parts, and services at competitive costs while meeting quality and schedule targets.
- Execute and maintain purchase orders within the ERP/MRP system, ensuring alignment with production demand.
- Analyze bids and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery criteria.
- Support bid activity for new business and cost estimates.
- Follow up and expedite purchase orders to meet delivery schedules.
- Address order discrepancies and negotiate favorable resolutions.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with the Supply Chain manager on critical activities and supplier issues.
- Oversee some incoming raw material shipments, verify documentation, and perform basic inspection for accuracy.
- Coordinate some outside processing orders and ensure timely dispatch & track return of goods from vendors.
- Use ERP systems to process receipts and generate shipping documentation.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as needed for shipping/receiving.
- Ensure adherence to ethical sourcing, ITAR, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, receipts, and processing status.
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- High school diploma or GED required, associate or technical degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing purchasing.
- 3+ years of experience in shipping/receiving or outside processing coordination.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience handling material movement equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) is a plus.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
- Frequent use of computer systems for data entry and reporting.
- Repetitive movement and material handling required.
- Must wear safety glasses and steel-toe shoes on the shop floor.
- Local travel may be required to support logistics or supplier visits.
